BING LYLE - May 6, 2013

Although mostly heard in the company of other musicians Bing Lyle is a spellbinding solo performer. His deep understanding of the traditional music is evident in his flawless unaccompanied singing of some of our treasured ballads, yet he is best known for his mastery of the accordian. In his hands this often maligned instrument is heard in all its rich potential, from the full-on orchestral complexity of jazz standards to the featherlight texturing of a simple lyric.

An accomplished flautist and guitar player, he has also written some memorable songs of his own, including the much loved Painting The Town, which can be heard on our home page.
